Hi! My name is Sophie and I am from Scotland. When I was quite young, my family moved to South Africa. Since then, I have lived in a few different countries including the US, Ireland and Vietnam. Fun fact, prior to beginning my teaching career, I worked as an underwater archaeologist in South Africa!
I started teaching English as a Second Language 5 years ago and since then, I have had the pleasure of teaching all ages and levels, from kindergarten to business professionals. I joined the English in Action family 3 years ago and have learned so much in that time. EiA helped me to become a highly adaptable, independent teacher and I have a much deeper understanding of learner needs.
About my sessions
Every student is unique, so my lessons are created to meet the students specific needs and learning objectives. We will begin by getting to know each other a little bit and identifying your learning goals. From there, we will build a plan to help you reach those goals in a relaxed way that builds confidence as well as proficiency.
I think that the best way to learn another language is through fun and plenty of practice. For younger learners, this means lessons involve lots of games, songs and pronunciation practice. For more advanced students, I tailor content to each students specific needs and learning objectives (we’ll have fun too, that’s not just for the little ones!).
Subjects I can offer:
General English (A1 – B2)
Young learners (A1 – A2)
Matura exam preparation
English for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM)
